An average American uses more water in a five minute shower than people in less privileged areas use in a whole day!

Raising Awareness
Many people are very aware of the water crisis and are working hard to fix it. These people are VERY dedicated. Some people don’t even know about the water crisis. Lots of people have no idea that millions of people die each year from lack of clean water. I believe that if enough people know about this problem and know how to help that there really is a way to solve the water crisis. According to blue planet network if everybody donated One-Third of the money they spent on bottled water there would be enough money to install hundreds of wells and give clean water to all of the villages in need. I think that if people knew about the water crisis, people would donate and help to solve it. I plan to give all of the funds if I get them to water.org. I have used water.org as a resource for most of my work on this project and they are a great organization.
If I can raise awareness than I think that I will have accomplished my goal. If everyone knows my mission and knows about the water crisis than I think that that is the goal of my project. Although raising awareness is a big part of it, I also think that funds are important to. If I can raise funds and get enough people to donate to build wells than I think that I will have succeeded.
The Water Crisis
The water crisis is something that is affecting people all over the world. Water scarcity means that there is lack of potable water and very often lack of a functioning toilet. This, as you can probably guess can cause some pretty huge health problems. Not only that, but many children in this situation have to give up school time to fetch water for their family. Many young girls have big dreams of becoming teachers or doctors but very few get to pursue these dreams because they are no able to go to school. This issue is a very important issue because it could mean life or death for over six-hundred-thousand children under five each year each year. [water facts,water.org]

Why Solving Water Scarcity Is Important:
When I think about water scarcity I first think about how lucky I am. I think about how when I'm thirsty I walk over to the sink and turn on the water. Not all people are this privileged. Every time I turn on the tap I think about all of the people in need. I didn't I fully understood how pressing this problem was until I started my research on it. Now that I know more about it, I feel like I could help to solve the water crisis. Ever since I knew that the water crisis was a real thing, I have been wanting to know more about how I could solve it. Too Many children are dying and it just doesn't feel fair. People often say that nothing is fair and that you shouldn't try to make things perfectly fair, but in this case, I disagree. You turn on a tap and you have water or you walk four hours to get it. This isn't fair, yes, you're right! But I believe that everything should be at least as close to fair as we can get it.
